Drama and Comedy Club |
![]() |
||
The Drama and Comedy Club was formed in March of 1999. Our purpose is to provide our residents with quality entertainment through the production of plays and variety shows. Working toward this goal has afforded our club members the opportunity to bring forth their many talents in the areas of acting, singing , dancing, directing, staging, and technical (sound and lighting). Certainly, we need people who are willing and able to act on stage, for without you we would have no productions. But for every one person on stage, many others work behind the scenes. Visit our page regarding the many facets of production to see what else is involved in bringing each production to life. |

Reader's Theater |
![]() |
||
The best way to describe the Reader's Theater is that even after four years it is still a really enjoyable work in progress which is a special interest group within the SCG Drama Club. There are currently about 60+ members and we have already performed plays on multiple occasions here at Sun City Grand. Our members are quite friendly and collegial and everyone is free to try out their latent acting skills in a safe, encouraging, and fun environment. The group has recently been looking at a wide variety of new material—mostly comedy and some mystery. We are currently planning to further expand the group's repertoire and find new ways to add to our joy at getting together and performing. Most importantly, our Reader's Theater team looks forward to having many new members join us who want to have a good time in a supportive environment while expanding their latent acting skills. We would love to have you join us. If you are interested or have other questions, please contact Dan Spedale at readerstheater@granddrama.com or call him at 623-544-8950. |

Variety Show |
![]() |
||
Each year in February, the Drama and Comedy Club puts on a one-of-a-kind blockbuster show that has been delighting our residents and community alike since 1999. This show generally follows a theme—different every year—that determines the types of acts that will be accepted for performance. A panel of members selects the best acts, based on auditions, and then goes to work figuring out how to put them together into one spectacular show. The Variety Show consistenly sells out early, so be sure to ask how you can get tickets and be assured of seeing one of the highlights of our season. |
