EDUCATION COMMITTEE
SCG DRAMA & COMEDY CLUB
NAME OF THE COMMITTEE: Education and Enrichment

PURPOSE OF THE COMMITTEE: The purpose of the Education Committee is two-fold:
1. To plan, organize, and implement a variety of educational programs on various aspects of stagecraft, i.e., acting, directing, lighting, sound, set design, etc. for the benefit of club members as well as interested individuals within the SCG community.
2. To initiate and maintain relationships with area schools and colleges by providing hands-on experiences for students and for the involvement of high school and college theatrical professionals in Drama Club productions.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: The Committee is responsible for:
- Developing a regular schedule of classes and educational programming throughout the season, within the club or in conjunction with Grand Learning as appropriate;
- Soliciting and selecting qualified instructors for the educational programs that are made available through the Drama Club;
- Determining what courses will be offered based upon the input and needs of the members of the Drama Club;
- Evaluating each educational program offered to determine its overall quality and value to the membership; and
- Working closely with the Publicity Committee in communicating upcoming programs and schedules.
DECISIONS DELEGATED BY BOARD: While final approval rests with the board, the Drama Club Board gives the Committee broad responsibility for developing educational programs of the highest possible quality and that meet the theatrical needs and interests of the members.
MEETING SCHEDULE: The Committee meets monthly, October through May. Each meeting follows a formal agenda and does not extend longer than an hour and a half.
SELECTION OF CHAIRPERSON: The chairperson of the Committee is selected by the Drama Club President.
TERM OF CHAIRPERSON: The term of the chairperson is two years and may be renewed at the mutual consent of the chairperson and the president.
COMMITTEE COMPOSITION: The Committee consists of four to six Drama Club members in good standing.
OTHER: The Committee works closely with other club committees, as appropriate.
AMENDMENT: Revisions of or amendments to this charter can be made only by the Drama Club Board .
