ACTING STAGE II

Eileen Brooks                                                                                     Fee: $20.00      POSTPONED
Meets 5 times on Fridays
3/06 to 5/08  1:00 to 3:00 PM

The is an “exciting and fun-packed” class!!! This class is for students who have taken the Acting I class (“Acting Up”) and or have some experience. Students will be coached to view acting as a form of communication rather than an opportunity to perform. Rather than simply memorizing lines and figuring out how a scene will be played, actors will be encouraged to be inquisitive rather than analytical relative to the roles they may be asked to portray and then to truly step into an actor’s “shoes.” Audition, scene work, and rehearsal experience will be covered. Emphasis will be placed on acting exercises, physical and vocal awareness and practical (honest and committed) application. Class will also include exercises in movement, vocal expression, articulation, concentration, improvisation, recall, working in the moment and analysis. It will also include journal writing, discussion, scene work with other students and responding to your own work and that of other students.

SOUND ENGINEERING
Larry Dirksen and Patrick Watts                                                       Fee: $15.00      COMPLETED
Meets two times on Tuesdays
3/10 and 3/17  11:00 to 12:30

Sound Engineers can be found in theatres, concert halls and sporting arenas, radio, TV, and recording studios, etc. They capture, manipulate and transmit voices, music and other sounds to audiences small and large, both nearby and far away. This course will focus on theatre and concert applications … what sound professionals call “live sound”. We will delve a little bit into theory, and spend more time on practical matters and have some fun hands-on experience with microphones, sound effects machines, mixers and speakers. No previous experience is necessary. For those interested in learning more, there will be an opportunity to sit in on a production with the Music Club or the Drama & Comedy Club.

STAGE MANAGEMENT
Behind the Curtain: A Stage Manager’s Life

Annie Banton                                                                                     Fee: $10.00       POSTPONED
Meets  Wednesday 4/08  1:00 to 3:30 PM

The Stage Manager is second in line behind the Director of a show. The class will explain what happens after auditions and how the Stage Manager helps the Director mold a production. It will give you skills that can take you from rehearsals, to backstage, to show time. It will give you a shorthand language so that you can look at a Prompt Book and tell what should  be happening at any given time. By the end of the class, you will have enough knowledge to become an Assistant Stage Manager.
