Purpose (Summary) *
To annually choose a musical for the club

Evaluate potential musical selections per the Guidelines further below, confirm publisher rights availability and present one primary and alternate recommendation to the Board including the minimal agenda items below: 
  • Title
  • Play write
  • Cost of Royalties.
  • Cost of music.
  • Plot Summary(s).
  • List of Music.
  • # Of Cast:  # women, #of men.
  • Any dance/choreography. Describe.
  • Describe:  set, costumes props, properties.
  • Ability to Cast.
  • Challenges.
  • Excerpts
  • Links to book.

Other important details:
General Guidelines for evaluating musicals.
1) No children
2) No male choreography that couldn't be simplified without ruining the show (like no West Side Story or Chorus Line)
3) No fancy sets, excessive expensive costumes and props
4) If feasible a cast comprised of club members, but not required as we have and can cast from outside if necessary
5) Must have pre-produced soundtrack for large productions
6) Show must have available publishing rights
7) Ideally, a show should leave patrons smiling and laughing.
