WIGS and HAIR COMMITTEE
The Wig/Hair Committee provides wigs and/or hair styling & coloring for the cast members of all Drama Club productions. Prior experience or interest is helpful to achieve success. However, the Coordinator will provide training to anyone interested in being a member of the team. The Coordinator meets with the Director and the actors of the production to determine the desired look for every performer.
We interpret the requirements of the production and the Director to help actors create their characters as well as coordinate the looks with costumes and conditions for each play. This may be very basic like creating a “blonde bombshell” or more complex like creating the look of someone who has been thrown into a swimming pool!! All of this occurs prior to the play opening on stage. During the run of the play, it is required to be at the stage about 90 minutes prior to curtain time to “dress” the actors in their wigs and/or style their own hair.
The Wig/Hair Committee works with wigs, hairpieces and temporary color provided by the Drama Club. We are also responsible for cleaning and maintaining the wigs and returning them to our storage locker. Currently our inventory of wigs is approximately 175.
